About Me
The days of waiting for the five o’clock news have certainly evolved into a daily, ever-changing form of media journalism. One of my strengths as a journalist is my skill of using technology to keep the audience engaged. The use of innovative story telling techniques provides me the opportunity to set my newscasts apart from other broadcast journalists. Real world experiences in broadcasting on a national and international level have provided me with the knowledge of the importance in producing content which is readily available.
The earliest sports memories I have include numerous trips to Rupp Arena to watch the Kentucky Wildcats play basketball or to Cincinnati for a summer Reds game. Growing up in rural Kentucky I quickly discovered that sports was a way of daily life. I began to lay the foundation for a career in journalism as the producer of our high school television news program. My undergraduate career at Western Kentucky University involved learning how to tell a story and write in active voice. My graduate program at the Missouri School of Journalism has strengthened my foundation in broadcast journalism with the Missouri Method.
Working at WRTV has given me an understanding into the real world of producing. I understand the pressure of having a lead story fall through right before a broadcast. I’ve also experienced the satisfaction of producing a well-built captivating show. I have the necessary talents to share my passion for sports with fellow sports enthusiasts from the viewing arm chair of the family room to the instant update of a quick tweet.
